Rules of the Game – Minor League
Players
2 – 4 Players
Goal
The goal is simple! Collect The Cycle and Win! Players collect a Single, Double, Triple, and Home Run Live Ball card to win the game.
Est. Duration
A two player game typically takes 15 minutes between setup and breakdown.
Setup
Shuffle all 3 decks separately: Pitch Cards (red), Hit Cards (blue), and Ball In Play Cards(white). Place the Ball in Play Cards off to the side as these will be drawn for each hit.
Rules
- The youngest player bats first
- Each player pitches to the hitter to their left
The At Bat
- The pitcher (Player 1) flips a Pitch Card 1st.
- The batter (Player 2) flips a Hit Card.
- If the Hit Card matches the Pitch card, it is a HIT and the batter draws a card from the Ball in Play card pile.
- If the Hit Card does not match the Pitch Card, the batter receives a strike.
- 3 Strikes and you’re out, Pitching and Hitting rotates
- With multiple players (3+), You can opt to pitching and Hitting continuously and rotate after each out. This keeps the action moving!
Ball In Play!
- A Hit entitles each batter to select a Ball In Play card
- Ball in Play Cards include the cards each player needs to collect in order to complete The Cycle (1B, 2B, 3B, HR).
- Ball in Play Cards can also be OUTs. Each OUT card visually displays the proper scorekeeping method of each play — F9, 6-3, 1-3, F8, etc. This is a great way to learn baseball scorekeeping. If a batter draws an OUT card, the next player proceeds to bat.
- Ball in Play Cards can also be Errors. An Error in the field, entitles the batter to hit again.
- If a batter draws a Cycle Card (1B, 2B, 3B, HR) that they already have, they keep the card, further reducing the chances of their opponent completing the Cycle.
